I’ve been working in education since graduating with a Bachelor of Education in 2007. I’ve taught across a range of schools in Tāmaki Makaurau and began specialising in supporting neurodiverse learners in 2019. I also hold a Master’s degree focused on understanding anxiety and learning. I’m passionate about creating learning environments where every child can thrive and reach their full potential. At Ridgeview, our values—Respect, Excellence, Positive Relationships, and Self-Management—are the foundation of everything we do. I’m committed to leading with heart and purpose, building strong community connections, and striving for excellence in every aspect of school life. I feel incredibly privileged to be part of the Ridgeview whānau—small in size, big in heart. Outside of school, I’m a proud mum of two teenagers and a red-nosed dog. I love animals, walking in nature—especially around Sanders Reserve—and spending summer days near the water.

About Me

Kia ora! I'm Lauren Hawkins, and I've been passionate about teaching since I was 19. My journey began in daycare, moved through kindy, and now I'm thrilled to be a primary school teacher. I've been part of the RidgeView whānau since 2018.
Outside the classroom, I love playing hockey, listening to music, reading, and dancing. I lead the school's wellness unit which focuses on the staff, students and communities wellbeing. I currently run wellness PD for the teachers and have put in an application for a traffic light crossing for our students to ensure their safety. Through our community consultation process it is my role to gather community feedback around wellbeing.
My educational philosophy revolves around building and maintaining strong relationships with my students, based on mutual respect and trust. I provide holistic care, recognising the interconnectedness of emotional, social, and intellectual wellbeing. I set clear expectations and encourage students to stretch beyond their comfort zones, always believing in their potential for success. I am open and honest with my students, showing them that I am a learner alongside them. Ultimately, my goal is to create a classroom and school environment where students feel safe, respected, and excited to learn—a place where they experience joy and achievement in their learning journey.
Ngā mihi!

About Me

My name is Katina Hart, and I grew up in Auckland before settling on the North Shore, where I've lived for 25 years with my husband and daughter. I joined Ridgeview School in 2016 as a teacher aide and became a teacher the following year. While I have experience teaching all year levels at Ridgeveiw, I have been working with our senior students since 2023.
I love being a part of the Ridgeview school and community because it has allowed me to build strong relationships with students and their families, creating a safe space for children to be themselves. I believe in making learning a fun and engaging journey for everyone, and there's nothing more rewarding than seeing a student's face light up with that "aha" moment. Outside of school, I cherish the time I get to spend with my daughter and family.
