Ridgeview School is pleased to now offer a limited number of places for international students.
Please read through all documentation carefully. If you are ready to enrol your child at Ridgeview School for 2026, please email office@ridgeview.school.nz.

At Ridgeview School, we welcome international students aged 5 to 11 (Years 1–6) into our nurturing, inclusive learning environment. Our small class sizes, rural setting, and values-based approach make Ridgeview a unique place for your child to thrive.

School Curriculum 

At Ridgeview School, we deliver a balanced curriculum that blends structured learning with inquiry-based approaches. Our students build strong foundational skills in English, Mathematics, and Science, while also being encouraged to explore and grow their interests in the Arts, Technology, and Physical Education.

We are proud to offer:

-Onsite music tuition (available at an additional cost)

-Swimming lessons in our school’s own pool (Term 1 and Term 4 only)

-Engaging, hands-on learning experiences that support creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration

-Options – Each term students are offered a range of optional extra subjects that develop curiosity and community awareness. 

-Our curriculum fosters academic excellence across all learning areas, while also nurturing each child’s unique strengths, interests, and cultural identity.

Enrolment Information

– Eligible ages: 5–11 years (Years 1–6)

– Living arrangements: Students must live with a parent or legal guardian

– International student fee: NZ$13,000 per year and a $500 administration fee (Does not include extra curriculum fees, stationary or uniform)

– Short-term enrolments are also welcome (1–2 terms)

Behaviour and Disciplinary –
Behaviour and Discipline
Ridgeview School expects all international learners to follow our REPS values and school rules. We handle behaviour concerns fairly and consistently. Serious misconduct may lead to formal stand-down or suspension following New Zealand education law. We communicate with parents/guardians and provide support throughout.

Withdrawal and Closure
If an international learner leaves the school or if the school closes, we will help families understand their rights and assist with transitions, including refunds and enrolment in another provider.

Visa and Enrolment Changes

If an international student leaves Ridgeview School early or if their enrolment is ended by the school, we will notify Immigration New Zealand as required. This ensures your visa stays valid and complies with the law. Families will be supported to understand what steps to take next, and help is available from the Principal or school office.

Insurance Requirements for International Students

  1. Mandatory Insurance Coverage

All international students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while enrolled in a New Zealand school.

This requirement includes the period of travel to and from New Zealand, and while the student is in New Zealand—even if they are not currently attending school (e.g. during holidays).

  1. What the Insurance Must Cover

The policy must, at a minimum, cover:

  1. Medical Care:

-GP and specialist appointments

-Hospitalisation

-Prescription drugs

Emergency dental treatment (accidents only)

  1. Travel:

Repatriation or expatriation in case of serious illness or death
Return home due to emergency (e.g. family bereavement)
Delayed or missed travel connections

Luggage and personal effects

  1. Personal Liability

Loss or damage caused by the student to others’ property

Acceptable Insurance Options:
Ridgeview School can recommend or facilitate insurance through a reputable New Zealand-based provider, such as:

 o Uni-Care
 o Southern Cross International Student Plan

These providers offer plans specifically tailored to meet Code requirements.
Provide Your Own Insurance: Families may arrange their own insurance policy before arrival.

The policy must:
o Be in English or officially translated.
o Be reviewed and approved by Ridgeview School before enrolment is finalised.
o Clearly demonstrate compliance with the Code.

Proof of insurance is required before the student starts school.

If the insurance policy expires during the enrolment period, renewal evidence must be provided in advance.

Responsibility for Compliance

Ridgeview School must:

o Verify insurance policies before enrolment and upon renewal.
o Keep a copy of the policy and certificate on the student’s file.
o Ensure parents understand their obligations (in enrolment info and orientation).

Families are responsible for:
o Ensuring premiums are paid on time.
o Providing updated policy details if using an independent provider.
